The Mustang Is a Symbol for Speed
Whether you go for the fastback (coupe) or the soft-top convertible version, Mustangs are meant to turn heads in terms of both looks and speed. There are five trim levels to choose from for 2016: V6, EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, and GT Premium. The classic Mustang spirit endures in the car's road-gripping, unmistakable outer shell. Slicked-back lines, squinting HID headlamps, and the signature chrome pony posed mid-gallop are a few of the daring inclusions that live on. A hallmark of the modern Mustang is the model's LED tri-bar taillamps that glow in a rippling effect when the left or right turn signal is chosen.
Power at the Ready
The 2016 Ford Mustang continues its tradition of superior on-road power in its array of three available engines. The base Mustang motor is a 3.7-liter V6 that pumps out 300 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. The Mustang EcoBoost trim is powered by a turbo 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 310 horsepower. Under the hood of the 2016 Mustang GT is the icon's top engine model, a 5.0-liter V8 that manufactures 435 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Each of these engines is offered with manual or automatic six-speed transmissions. The base Mustang V6 returns an EPA-estimated 19 city and 28 highway mpg with the automatic transmission.
Nostalgic yet New Ford Mustang
The 2016 Mustang offers buyers a sentimental set of package options made over for present day. The Pony Package and the California Special were original Mustang bundles for first-generation models back in the '60s.Exclusive to the 2016 Mustang EcoBoost Premium trim is the revamped Pony Package. It features a tri-bar pony logo focal point, side stripe paint detailing, chrome window accents, and 19-inch polished-aluminum wheels.
The second throwback package Ford resurrects is the California Special Package, available on the top-of-the-line GT Premium. This adds unique inner and outer updates, including a leather interior with red contrast stitching, a distinctive aluminum dashboard wearing the California Special badge, hood and side stripes, a back rear spoiler, a front splitter, and black side mirrors and hood vents.
The Mustang GT will now come standard with a classic nod that many Mustang lovers have been asking Ford to reinstate: driver-facing turn-signal indicators located on the hood vents. 2016 GT chasers can also choose to dip their sports cars in all black with the Black Accent Package or outfit them for the track with the Performance Package.
 The Mustang's Timeless Interior
On the inside, the 2016 Mustang stays true to form with a driver-focused front seat that positions elements wisely and provides plenty of room for athletic maneuvers. The Mustang cockpit is loaded with all of Ford's favorites: a standard rearview camera, Bluetooth calling, proximity key, voice-controlled SYNC, and two USB ports.
