At Richmond Ford Lincoln, we’ve always been proud to help our friends in Richmond, Mechanicsville, and Ashland when it’s time to choose their next car. However, our friends may want to hold out just a little bit longer for the 2019 Ford Edge release date. In the meantime, we’re going to give you a few updates on this upcoming crossover with what it offers, how it differs from the 2018 Edge, and when you can expect to see it at our dealership.

2019 Updates to the Ford Edge

Ford didn’t make any drastic changes to an already impressive vehicle. Instead, the 2019 Ford Edge was improved upon to include some new features, styles, and even a whole new trim.

Drivers can expect the same ferocious performance from the 2.0L EcoBoost® 4-cylinder engine, clocking in at 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. On top of the impressive performance, the 2019 Edge includes the auto start-stop feature at the base level, which helps boost the efficiency when at stop lights.

One of the major updates that this crossover is getting is the Ford Co-Pilot360™. This system is a suite of impressive driver-assisting technology features that will improve the driving experience while boosting safety, security, and convenience. This system includes the BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System), Automatic High Beams, Lane Keeping System, and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection. Ford Co-Pilot360™ comes as a standard feature with the 2019 Ford Edge.

The 2019 Ford Edge vs 2018 Ford Edge

The Ford Edge wasn’t redesigned from the 2018 model, but there are a few notable updates. The same engine is equipped, but the EcoBoost® 4-cylinder was finely tuned to deliver five more horsepower while keeping the torque at a respectable 275 lb-ft. The standard Ford Co-Pilot360™ is another key update. The 2018 Ford Edge did offer driver-assisting features, but only after some upgrades. Another major update is that the 2019 Ford Edge features a new trim!

2019 Ford Edge ST

The Ford Edge ST is a sportier version of this already impressive crossover. The ST trim includes an upgraded engine, the 2.7L V6 EcoBoost®, which adds 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque to the mix. The engine even comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, includes all-wheel drive, a sport-tuned suspension, and even paddle shifters!

As for the appearance, there’s a few notable features to look out for, including the standard leather-trimmed seats; the gloss black-painted mesh grille; and the ST logo badges located on the grille, in the rear, and even on the steering wheel.
