2018 Ford Explorer Review

At Richmond Ford Lincoln, we're always trying to keep our friends and neighbors in the Richmond, Ashland, and Mechanicsville area in-the-know when it comes to our Ford models. One model that's hit our lot recently and is making its way around town is  the Ford Explorer

In this review of the 2018 Ford Explorer, we'll be taking a look at some of the updates that are featured for the 2018 year. We'll take a look at the power and performance, the standard and optional technology, and the updated design and appearance. This review will provide you with the information you need to know to help you decide if this SUV is right for you.

2018 Ford Explorer Power & Performance

The 2018 Ford Explorer can accommodate any driver with its varying performance. The base-level 3.5L V6 engine can produce 290 horsepower. The 2.3L EcoBoost® engine adds 280 horsepower to the table, which reduces the power slightly, but boosts its efficiency. Drivers looking for top-tier power should opt for the 3.5L EcoBoost® V6, which delivers a whopping 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.

Standard & Optional Technology

Drivers who enjoyed the SYNC® system will be happy to know that this vehicle carries the torch forward from the 2017 year. Not only does the 2018 Ford Explorer interior feature the SYNC® system with its helpful enhanced voice recognition technology, but it also features a few updates like the 4G LTE Connection with a Wi-Fi hotspot, allowing up to 10 devices to connect to the network with a radius of 50 feet. You and your family can connect while on a lengthy road trip so everyone can enjoy their preferred entertainment.

The 2018 Explorer also offers some impressive driver-assisting technology features. The options include a Blind Spot Information System and Rain-Sensing Wipers. However, one of the most talked about features is the Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Warning with Brake Support. This feature lets you set a distance, as well as speed, from the vehicle ahead. Despite traffic slowing down, the system will maintain the distance without required driver interaction.

2018 Ford Explorer Exterior Updates

While the 2018 Ford Explorer interior still stays true to the previous models, it features a few new alterations to its overall appearence. The Ford model features a newer grille and even updated fog lamps to give this SUV a more aggressive appeal while providing a better view of the road during foggy nighttime excursions. When you opt for the 3.5L EcoBoost® V6, the vehicle comes with four tailpipes that are a perfect visual representation of the impressive performance capabilities.
