The Edge is uniquely appealing because of its customization options. Depending on the trim you choose, the model can serve as an inspiring performance option or a subtle, stylish, around-town cruiser.
At Richmond Ford Lincoln, we want to help bring some clarity to this popular SUV-that's why we created this 2021 Ford Edge review. If you have questions beyond what's discussed in the coming sections, contact our team!
Picking Your Performance
The beginning trim levels of the 2021 Ford Edge-which use the standard motor-are plenty capable for highway treks, around-town errands, and most other driving scenarios.
That base motor is a turbo 4-cylinder carried over from 2020 and delivering 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. If you want a little more oomph under the hood, though, you can certainly get it by opting for the ST trim.
The ST nomenclature has made its way into a few Ford models at this point. The ST trims are geared specifically toward performance.
With the 2021 Ford Edge ST, you can expect the following performance enhancements:
- Intelligent All-Wheel Drive with selectable traction control
- ST Performance Brake Package
- ST-tuned sport suspension
- ST-tuned steering
The ST engine is impressive, too. It's a 2.7L EcoBoost® V6 making 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque.
Â
Finally, if you just want your SUV to have a more aggressive appearance without bumping up to the true ST trim, you can go for the Edge ST-Line, which includes:
- ST-style grille with body-colored bumpers
- Black ST beltline molding with lower sport cladding
- Signature LED lighting
Impressive Standard Technology
The already impressive infotainment setup from the 2020 Ford Edge gets even more appealing with the debut of the 2021 model. Not only is the technology enhanced, but much of it comes standard, as well!
The touchscreen is a great example. All 2021 Ford Edge SUVs will be outfitted with a 12-inch center stack screen. Customizing this screen is a cinch, too. You can personalize which menus appear on the home screen and linking the screen to your smartphone is a breeze with Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and the new SYNC® 4A system.
SYNC® 4A is the updated version of what Ford had in previous models: SYNC® 3. The system is responsive, easy to familiarize yourself with, and can receive over-the-air updates to stay as modern as possible.
Review of 2021 Ford Edge: Fierce & Fashionable
