How Much Can the Ford EcoSport Tow?

When it's time to head out on an adventure and you need to tow some serious cargo, the EcoSport can accommodate. The EcoSport's towing capacity ranges from 1,400 to 2,000 pounds, depending on its engine configuration:

  • The 1.0L EcoBoost® 3-cylinder engine allows the EcoSport to tow 1,400 pounds.
  • When equipped with the 2.0L 4-cylinder, the EcoSport can tow 2,000 pounds.

Ford EcoSport Varying Engine Power & Efficiency

The Ford EcoSport offers two engine options for drivers to choose from. It comes standard with a 1.0L EcoBoost® 3-cylinder engine, but drivers have the option of choosing the 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, which not only generates more horsepower and torque, but propels the EcoSport towing abilities even further. Each engine option is included with the 6-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission.

  • The 1.0L EcoBoost® 3-cylinder engine delivers 123 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque, can tow up to 1,400 pounds, and gets an EPA-estimated 27/29 MPG city/highway.
  • The optional 2.0L 4-cylinder engine produces 166 horsepower and 149 lb-ft of torque, can tow up to 2,400 pounds, and gets an EPA-estimated 23/29 MPG city/highway.

Cabin Space & Cargo Capacity

The EcoSport offers a spacious cabin for five passengers and some room for cargo in addition to its impressive towing capabilities. The 91.1-cubic-foot cabin includes two rows of seating. The second row includes the 60/40 split bench, which can be partially folded to make room for longer materials, or it can be folded down flat to boost the overall cargo area.

  • The EcoSport offers 39.6 inches of headroom in the front row and 37.5 inches in the rear.
  • There's 42.9 inches of legroom in the front row and 36.7 inches of legroom in the second row.
  • The EcoSport includes 20.9 cubic feet of cargo space, which can expand to 50 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down flat.
