Choosing Your Performance
A truck as large as the Ford F-350 is always going to have a heavy-duty engine under the hood. The exact type of engine is up to you, though. There are three options to pick from. There are also two transmissions and three fuel tank sizes you can select.
The smallest engine is hardly tiny, checking in as a 6.2L V8 that makes 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. In the middle of the lineup is the diesel offering, a 6.7L V8, that generates 475 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque.
Finally, there's the potent 7.3L V8, which checks in at 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque.
Each transmission option is smooth, one being a 6-speed automatic and the other a 10-speed automatic. For the fuel tank, you can select a 29-gallon, 34-gallon, or 48-gallon size.
Maximum Towing Capacity and Payload
Towing and hauling cargo are what the Ford F-350 was built for. The various engine options and configurations for the F-350 will all result in different capacities, yet the maximum towing and payload are undoubtedly impressive.
The most conventional towing your Ford F-350 can generate is a maximum 21,200 pounds. If you use a 5th wheel or gooseneck towing arrangement, you can reach 35,750 pounds.
Finally, 7,850 pounds of maximum payload can be stored in the bed of the truck!
Choosing Your Ford F-350 Trim
Trim levels are your way to customize everything you might want in your Ford F-350. If it's the performance, styling, features, or something else you want to alter, there's likely going to be a trim level with your needs in mind.
The XL is where the trim list begins for the Ford F-350. It's a rugged, eager work truck that will still come with modern features and amenities. The list from there includes the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and the fully loaded Limited.
